San Alfonso del Mar is a private resort
located in Algarrobo, Chile.
It is notable for having the Guinness world
record for the world’s largest pool. San Alfonso’s pool is 1,000 meters long and up to 35 metres deep.
To cross, it would take an average swimmer over half an hour!
The pool holds 250 million liters of seawater pumped, filtered, and
treated from the Pacific Ocean to supply to the pool.
A computer-controlled filtration system continuously draws fresh seawater from the ocean while pumping out used water.
It cost
about €2.8 million to build.
